All of those who have donated, thank you. Our 30 day clock has ended, but with that comes opportunity.
The next step to finish fundraising for this project, has already been in the works. I have been working on reaching out to other former baseball alumni about the importance of this scholarship for a future Charlotte 49ers Baseball Player. With the platform fundraising being over, it now gives me the opportunity to ask for pledges for the scholarship.
What is a pledge? A pledge will allow someone to give a monetary value over a period of months. For this purpose, I'm thinking 10 months. For example, someone can make a pledge of $500 over 10 months. For 10 months, we would charge their credit card only $50 each month...which is much easier than giving $500 upfront.
I'm explaining this because if you know a former player who might be interested in donating, but can't give that $250 or $500 at once, giving $25 or $50 each month is much more feasible.
We will finish funding this scholarship because of everyone who has already donated and those who have yet to. Please keep spreading the good word and give me a call at (704) 687-6063 or email at dfreem28@uncc.edu if you know others who would like to donate. Lets keep this moving!
GO NINERS!
The baseball team was able to take 1 out of 3 games from one of the top teams in the conference and in the country this weekend, FAU. It was also the 10 year anniversary of the 48-win, A-10 regular season/conference tournament championships. The Class of 2007! They came, they saw, they enjoyed themselves!
We plan to do more of these events in the future.
We are $8,850 away from our 25k goal. Help us make this goal a reality. Once the ball starts heading towards home plate, it will pick up more people and more money till we hit the scholarship number.
Listen to Nick Rhodes talk about why scholarships are so important for out-of-state athletes!
We have 10 days and $12,850 left to raise! Check out below for something special that we have in place for the last 10 days.
Thanks to generous Charlotte 49ers Baseball alumnus Eric Miller, any donation will be matched dollar for dollar up to $3000 for the Charlotte 49ers Baseball Alumni Scholarship!
The baseball team had a tough outing versus ODU this past weekend, but bring in FAU on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We're currently 5th in the conference with a 16-12, and 5-4 conference record, while FAU is 3rd in the conference. If you havent been to a game this season, or since it started...this would be a great series to bring the fire for our Niners!
Since the last time we spoke,
Baseball took the weekend series versus Louisiana Tech (who were nationally ranked) and improved to 15-9, 4-2 in Conference USA play.
They came close last night, but lost in a heck of a slug-fest, 15-10 NC State. The Niners at one point put up 7 runs in the 5th inning.
Currently, we are at 43% of our goal ($10,625). I know a lot of people have said that they will donate, and we are looking for some of those donations now. We have slowed down slightly.
If you know anyone who played baseball at Charlotte or is a supporter of Charlotte, reach out and get them involved. Lets get this ball rolling even more!
Make sure to click and WATCH the video of Eric Miller below. He talks about the first EVER Charlotte 49ers baseball game, and one of his proudest moments!
Currently, we're at 10 donors and a strong $10,450 with 24 days left.
ALSO, the team won their first CUSA series versus FIU! http://charlotte49ers.com/news/2017/3/19/baseball-wins-c-usa-series-at-fiu-with-8-7-sunday-win.aspx
TONIGHT, they play at BB&T Park versus Wake Forest at 7:05PM and it will be broadcast on BeIN Sports!
Attached is something I've been working on for former players who's pictures I can find in our historical pictures drive.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me (dfreem28@uncc.edu) or give me a call (704-687-6063).
