Skyrise just finished up a great tournament in their home city of Charlotte! (by name only). Queen City is actually hosted in Rock Hill South Carolina, but since its the same metro area, it goes by the name of the Queen City. Skyrise came in as the 11th seed of 20, placed in a pool with Tufts, Virginia, Temple and Alabama. Skyrise stared out the day with a tough universe loss to lower seeded Temple Alert. We then managed to pick our heads up and deliver a loss to Tufts E Men who was the 3 seed coming into the tournament. After that we lost to Virginia Night Train and it came down to the last game of the day to make the championship bracket the next day. This game was against Alabama, it again came down to the last point and skyrise pulled out the win to place second on the pool and make the championship bracket for Sunday. On Sunday with rain in the forecast, the first game started at 7:30am, in the rain. We faced UNC Wilmington Sea Men, a strong team that took us down. We then played Penn State where again we faced stronger competition and come out with a loss. We ended up trying for 7th place after the fields were closed due to the rain Sunday. Overall Skyrise broke seed, going from 11th to 7th. Queen City Tune up proved to be a great tournament to face top competition and for skyrise to prove themself. Beating Tufts proved skyrise has the talent but we still struggled against Virginia, UNC Wilmington and Penn State, showing we have work to do.
