The Growth of Club Ultimate at UNC Charlotte

Club Ultimate at UNC Charlotte has become one of the fastest growing clubs at the university, adding an additional 30 members to our group. With the addition of our new friends, the club has been able to add a brand-new B-team! As this is the first year of the B-team's existence, they are working closely with our A-team to develop skills, get reps, and prepare to compete in their division. The A-team "Skyrise" and the B-team "Underground" will both benefit from any donation made to this crowdfunding page. Our strong connection with the alumni of this program is a testament to the integrity and quality that Skyrise, and now Underground, is built on.

Underground, B-team for UNC Charlotte, has just begun its inaugural year! Underground has a healthy mix of brand-new rookies and experienced players, and all of them are excited to grow and learn more about Ultimate. As Underground grows, they are setting their sights competing in this season's D1 Dev men's conference tournament! Their focus on having fun and growing the ultimate community has led to a closely knit group of players. Their goal this year is to develop the fundamental skills and mindsets for everyone on their team.

Our number one goal as a program is to cultivate a close knit, thriving community. This was what our aim was way back in 2012, and it will continue to be our mission in the future. We first made the transition from a band of friends to a competitive and focused team in 2015. Back then we were known as “Pan-Handle” and we're among the newest teams in the region. After years of both personal and collective growth, in spring of 2017, we were able to make our first push into regionals, a tournament that on the top 16 teams along the Mid-Atlantic region are invited to. Since that first appearance 9 years ago, we have missed regionals only once, and currently we are continuing a streak of 6 straight appearances. In the years following covid, we have only continued to grow, making a name for ourselves on the national stage. In 2023, we finished our season being ranked 17 in the country. An impressive feat on its own, but it also has been the best season performance by our team so far. Then in 2024 we placed 3rd at regionals, yet another team best. Now as we move into the 2026 season, we have our sight set on surpassing these achievements, and to build upon the Skyrise name.
