What is STORM?

The Student Organization of Meteorology's (STORM) mission is to broaden and educate the UNC Charlotte community on meteorological forecasts, events, and processes. STORM provides an open environment that strengthens students’ camaraderie, successes within the classroom, and increases opportunities for professional careers. STORM holds a number of events throughout the year: professional talks; NWS visits; Broadcast visits; and community building activities. STORM also organizes the annual trip to the AMS conference each year where we usually send about 20 of our members.  AMS is the largest gathering of meteorologists in the country and it provides STORM members the opportunity to network, seek out internships/jobs, and talk to a number of graduate programs.

A trip to AMS is costly for undergraduate students and while we are able to get funds from SGA to cover the hotel stay, travel to and from the conference is often left up to the student.  The goal of this fundraising drive is to create a fund for students what don't have the means to afford the cost of travel to this highly impactful annual conference.  Your help is truly appreciated!

Your donation will help cover the cost of expenses related to the Student Organization of Meteorology Club.
