Our Crowdfunding Groups
The LatinX Student Union is a community service based organization, dedicated to uniting the Latinx population on campus and empowering them to serve communities in need. While being established on campus only three years ago, LXSU has grown to be the largest Latinx serving student organization at UNCC, with over 440 members registered in Niner Engage.
The LXSU Gala is a celebration of the Latinx student population at UNC Charlotte. It will be a recognition of the accomplishments and contributions of the Latinx student body. Additionally, the Gala will be an opportunity to raise funds for a local nonprofit, OurBRIDGE For Kids, to create new projects and upscale current projects to have an impact on the Latinx population in Charlotte. A requirement of the project will be that it creates volunteering opportunities for the Latinx Student Union.
The LXSU Gala, separate from UNC Charlotte Crowdfunding, will raise funds for a non-profits organization and create new opportunities for members of the LatinX Student Union to volunteer and make a difference in their community. The goal behind this is to increase the outreach of the Latinx population at UNC Charlotte. Each partnership created for the Gala will address a need of a non-profit, target the Latinx population in Charlotte, and create volunteer opportunities for members of the Latinx Student Union. This year, the LatinX Student Union has partnered up with OurBRIDGE For Kids.
OurBRIDGE For Kids fosters the education, acculturation, and wellbeing of newly arrived and first generation children and their families. OurBRIDGE will host an Outdoor Beautification Day with the funds raised through LXSU. The purpose of this project is to work on OurBRIDGE’s outside area, which gets disrupted by the colder winter months to be replenished and repaired as they head into the warmer months and leaving it as a welcoming space for both bridge kids and their families. LXSU volunteers will be able to come in and help with our beautification project and help to clean and make our outside area ready to welcome families.
The gala will take place on December 2, 2023!
