After 34 years as leader of the University’s Student Media program, Wayne has elected to retire. You are invited to visit with him to wish him a 49er farewell, Wednesday, December 18 in the James Hoppa Room inside the Popp-Martin Student Union. Please drop in between 4-7 pm.
Thank you to everyone who made a financial commitment to the Wayne Maikranz Student Media Award. Wayne was very surprised and emotional when student media alumni Mike and Tracey Burnette, Brent Sparks, Melissa (Manware) Treadaway, George Swygert, and Joe Posnanski shared the news with him at a luncheon. We are thrilled to share that the fund has grown to just over $16,000. If we can reach the $25,000 mark, we can endow this award so that it will provide a gift in perpetuity.
Please help us get this award endowed! Any gift of any size will help us honor Wayne’s incredible servant life. Make a gift today.
Thank you for supporting the Maikranz Student Media Award. I am happy to announce that we raised $12,798-- but we aren't finished yet! The project will remain open and we will continue with our efforts with a goal of reaching $15,000 by the end of May and to endow the fund at $25,000 by the end of 2020 to award students in Wayne's honor in perpetuity.
We are so grateful for Wayne's leadership and dedication to the Niner Student Media program. I am thrilled that we will award students $500 annually who share Wayne's enthusiasm and drive for student media.
Thank you again for your generous support.
Sincerely,
Mark '83
