The English Honor Society, Sigma Tau Delta (ΣΤΔ), which is one of the oldest ongoing chapters in the national society, sponsors social, intellectual, and scholarly activities on campus throughout the year. Last year, Sigma Tau Delta began sending students to the national convention, where students present papers, participate in roundtables, or read their creative work. This year, six students, who have created two roundtables, have been accepted as speakers by the national organization.
The topics of the roundtables are timely and significant. The first addresses the impact of DACA in American culture, and the second explores Human Sex Trafficking, a clearly important issue, but especially resonant in the city of Charlotte. The National Sigma Tau Delta Convention will be in Cincinnati, Ohio in April 2018.
Sigma Tau Delta is crowdfunding this spring to raise awareness and support of our trip to the National Convention. Funding will help cover the costs for these six students’ registration, travel, and accommodations.
