Greg Underwood joined UNC Charlotte as Staff Accompanist in 1995. Over the next two decades, Greg left indelible marks on virtually every music student by accompanying countless choir concerts, opera productions, and degree recitals on piano, organ, harpsichord, and percussion. Health issues forced him to step away from the university in 2015, and he passed away on December 29, 2017.
“Greg will be remembered for his quick intellect and his dry wit, as well as his passion for music, his talent as a pianist, and his dedication to our department,” says music department chair James A. Grymes. “In my fifteen years at UNC Charlotte, there is nobody who was more beloved by our faculty, staff, and students. He will be greatly missed.”
