The Next Generation of Lawyers

UNC Charlotte Mock Trial is more than a competitive organization. We are a community of students united by an interest in law, advocacy, and leadership—and, more importantly, a team that has become a family.

Through Mock Trial, our members learn to think critically, speak confidently, work collaboratively, and advocate under pressure. We spend countless hours preparing cases, studying evidence, writing examinations, and practicing courtroom procedure. Along the way, we are developing skills that will follow us far beyond the courtroom as we prepare to become tomorrow’s attorneys, judges, policymakers, and leaders.

Competing and Growing – Together

Competition is at the heart of the Mock Trial experience. Each year, our teams travel to tournaments where we put months of preparation into practice, competing against talented programs from across the country.

These tournaments teach us how to think on our feet, advocate with confidence, respond under pressure, and work together as a team. But their impact extends far beyond the courtroom.

Tournament weekends are where teammates become close friends. They are filled with long drives, late-night case preparation, early mornings, hard-fought rounds, and memories that last long after the final ballot is turned in.

The opportunity to compete is what makes Mock Trial come alive.

Unfortunately, competing is also expensive.

With our program supporting nearly forty people, tournament costs have increased significantly. Registration alone can cost approximately $350 per team, per tournament.

That is before accounting for transportation, lodging, meals, competition materials, and other travel expenses.

Your support helps ensure that our growth does not limit our members' opportunities.

Our Most Successful Season Yet

Last year marked the most successful season in Charlotte Mock Trial history.

Across the season, our teams earned nearly 20 individual and team awards, including a first-place tournament finish, a third-place finish, and multiple honorable mentions. One team also finished with the best competitive record in program history, setting a new standard for Charlotte Mock Trial.

At AMTA Regionals, we came closer than ever before to making it to the next stage of national competition—finishing just one point away from advancing. 

That single point has only made us more determined.

At the same time, our organization has experienced extraordinary growth. Our membership has remained high, bringing more students into Mock Trial and creating more opportunities for students to discover an interest in advocacy and the legal profession.

With that growth comes a new challenge: making sure every member has access to the same opportunities that helped our program reach this point.
