A Moment of Magic at Charlotte 2026-27

    At A Moment of Magic at UNC Charlotte, we believe no diagnosis should steal the wonder of being a kid.    

   Our passionate student volunteers step into hospitals and community spaces to bring light, laughter and hope to children fighting serious illnesses. Through magical character visits, heartfelt connections and, Bravery bags, we create unforgettable moments that remind these brave kids they are so much more than their medical journey! 

What is "A Moment of Magic" at UNC Charlotte?

 A Moment of Magic (AMoM) is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit built on one simple belief: every child deserves to experience the wonder of being a kid, no matter what they’re going through. 

Here at UNC Charlotte, our college student volunteers - known as Magic Makers - carry this mission straight into our local community. Whether we're delivering bravery bags, sharing storybooks at a hospital, doing character visits, or creating laughter and smiles through compassionate connection, we stand alongside pediatric patients and their families when they need it most.

 We help families hold on to moments of light during some of life’s darkest times, and remind children that they are more than their diagnosis: they are brave, strong, and full of magic. 

To ensure every encounter is as safe as it is special, our student volunteers undergo specialized trainings. Some topics include child-led play techniques, pediatric oncology awareness, and compassionate care, this training prepares our team to show up with deep empathy, safety, and professionalism.
