AFROTC Detachment 592 at UNC Charlotte is where students become leaders. Our cadets balance demanding academics with military training, leadership labs, and physical readiness - all while preparing to commission as Second Lieutenants in the U.S. Air Force or U.S. Space Force. We are students first, future officers always, and proud to uphold the traditions of service, discipline, and excellence.

Why We’re Fundraising

This spring, Detachment 592 is hosting a Dining-Out Ceremony, a formal military ball that celebrates a successful semester of training, recognizes cadet achievements, and marks our change of command. This event is a cornerstone tradition across the military - equal parts ceremony, celebration, and camaraderie.

Our goal is to make this event feel like a true active-duty Dining-Out while keeping it accessible to every cadet and welcoming to their families. Funds raised will support:

• Formal catering and venue costs
• Awards and recognitions for cadet excellence
• Subsidized tickets so cadets don’t have to pay out of pocket

 *This is used for the cadets and not in support of AFROTC or the Air Force. 

Why It Matters

For many of our cadets, this is more than a dinner - it’s a milestone. The Dining-Out is a moment to pause, reflect, and recognize how far they’ve come on the path to commissioning. It builds esprit de corps, reinforces military heritage, and allows families and supporters to witness the growth of the next generation of officers.
