The 49er Battalion is excited to be participating in the International March of Diekirch - a 40 kilometer ruck march held in Luxembourg to commemorate their liberation from foreign oppression in 1918 and 1944.
From May 24th to May 26th, the 49er Battalion hopes to take 10 cadets from Charlotte, NC to Diekirch, Luxembourg to engage in three days of rigorous foot marches totaling over 40 kilometers. Cadets will complete the ruck march with other US Army and European military units, while working together to navigate the obstacles of rucking long distances. It will build mental fortitude, enhance camaraderie, and improve the confidence of cadets.
In the months leading up to the event, cadets will invest hours of training in order to prepare for the once-in-a-lifetime experience. They will conduct appropriate workouts in physical training sessions to build the strength and endurance necessary. Upon completion of this event, cadets will receive a ribbon to be worn on uniforms.
The confidence, resiliency, and courage gained will help cadets once they become platoon leaders in the US Army following the completion of ROTC. This event will be a rewarding experience that can benefit the future leaders of America as they begin their careers in the military.
Invest in future leaders by supporting the 49er Battalion today!
