Prior to the Saturday, Oct. 21 matchup between the Charlotte 49ers and ECU pirates, runners from both universities completed the inaugural 240-mile football run across the state from Charlotte to Greenville, NC to raise money and awareness for mental health and suicide prevention.
Between quarters on the ECU field, the football was presented by students to Wes Tyeryar, founder of the Maxwell For Life Foundation in honor of his son Maxwell Tyeryar, an ECU student and U.S. Army National Guard veteran who died by suicide. ECU's proceeds support the Maxwell Ronald Tyeryar Military Scholarship Endowment.
THANK YOU to all the Charlotte donors who contributed to support UNC Charlotte students facing mental health struggles.
