Lambda Chi Alpha Chapter Reinstatement

As many of you know, the Beta Upsilon chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha was closed on December 18, 2017 and we were prohibited by Lambda Chi's Office of Administration and the University from pursuing reinstatement until the fall of 2023. Before the reinstatement process can begin, a debt is owed to the school that must be paid. At the time of the closure, the chapter owed $45,341.31 in unpaid rent to the university for unoccupied rooms in the on-campus fraternity house.

Being responsible for unoccupied rooms is a stipulation of the housing contract that is applied to all sororities and fraternities who occupy these houses.  Dr. Kevin Bailey, Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, has agreed to reduce the amount owed by half to $22,670.66. As the director of expansion with the Lambda Chi Alpha Office of Administration, Chris Pockette (Beta Upsilon 968) is coordinating this effort from the General Fraternity's perspective.

Together with the University and Lambda Chi Alpha Office of Administration, we are working towards a chapter reinstatement in the fall of 2024. We need your help in settling the debt and providing seed money to get the chapter started again. All contributions will be applied to the outstanding debt. Once we raise that amount, any overage will be used for working capital for the chapter.

With guidance from Penny Hawkins, Associate Vice Chancellor for Development, the UNC Charlotte Foundation has provided this website that allows us to donate using a credit card. All monies donated to the foundation using this website are tax-deductible since the UNC Charlotte Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. If you would like to make a donation using securities or other investment products, David Gay (Beta Upsilon 103) can help with that process. He can be reached at 704.557.2688.

Thanks for your help in re-establishing the Beta Upsilon Chapter on UNC Charlotte’s campus.
