UNC Charlotte Student Success Priorities

Founders Day - September 23rd

Since our founding on September 23, 1946, UNC Charlotte has transformed from a night school serving World War II veterans into a vibrant research university, making it one of the great success stories of American higher education. With characteristic grace and determination, our founder, Bonnie E. Cone worked tirelessly for the University, motivating students, winning friends, and attracting benefactors.

As we continue to honor Miss Bonnie's legacy and keep her tradition of serving others alive, we encourage you to support UNC Charlotte students by making a gift of any size to one of our student success priority initiatives.

Charlotte Fund:

Gifts to the Charlotte Fund are one of the university’s most important traditions as they truly help determine what opportunities and resources can be offered to students and faculty each year. Your gift will go to work providing scholarships, student programs, classroom technology, and hands-on learning opportunities that wouldn’t be possible without support from alumni, faculty, staff, parents, and friends. The resources you help provide will not only enhance students’ experience but will also help the university maintain the excellence in education that makes you proud to be a 49er.

Mental Health Assistance Fund:

The Mental Health Assistance Fund provides support for students who are referred to outside providers by the University and need assistance in covering the costs associated with seeking off-campus mental health care.

Evergreen Scholarship Fund:

The Evergreen Scholarship Fund is a unique and flexible scholarship fund designated to help our students with their ultimate goal - to graduate. The fund allows the University to evaluate current enrollment, student retention rate, financial aid, and graduation gaps annually. As a result, the Evergreen Scholarship Fund allows the University to combine several donors' gifts, regardless of size, to leverage additional funding for students to get them over a small financial hurdle.

Alumni Book Scholarship Fund:

The Alumni Book Scholarship Fund was created by UNC Charlotte alumni to aid students with a demonstrated financial need in purchasing textbooks.

UNC Charlotte Student Emergency Fund

The UNC Charlotte Student Emergency Fund helps current students by providing financial support when they need assistance with unexpected, unforeseen, and unavoidable emergency expenses, including pandemics. Please consider donating to the Emergency Fund to help our Niners during this difficult time.

Jamil Niner Student Food Pantry

The Jamil Niner Student Pantry provides assistance to UNC Charlotte students who struggle with food insecurities, helping ensure that every student has access to nutritious food. During this time, the on-campus pantry remains open for students, utilizing a web order form to maximize social distancing. The staff bags the groceries and hands them to students so they don’t have to shop in the pantry. A contribution of $50 to the Jamil Niner Food Pantry will provide seven lunches and a $100 donation will feed one student dinner all week.

Student Emergency Housing Fund

The Student Emergency Housing Fund provides assistance to UNC Charlotte students with temporary on-campus housing who have been unexpectedly displaced from their home, apartment or have experienced a crisis that has caused a significant change in a students’ housing status.
