The year 2020 brought great challenges for so many – not least for our talented, hardworking performing arts students. In a typical year, the dance, music, and theatre departments present some 100 live performances. Ticket sales to those performing arts events supply crucial funding, but the pandemic darkened our stages and closed our box office, resulting in the loss of that revenue this academic year.
The students were no less productive. Live performances gave way to digital invention: a podcast of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, dances filmed outdoors, and recorded "distanced" music concerts were among the creative output - all streamed for free.
To offset the funding loss, the College of Arts + Architecture has launched "Curtains Rising: A Campaign for Performance" to raise funds for the continued success of our students. Please consider a gift to help keep their curtains rising! Thank you!
