The Sharon J. Thacker Scholarship Crowdfunding Committee is proud to announce our final campaign fundraising total: $26,802!

This scholarship would not be possible without each and every one of you. As we enter the season of thanks, please know how truly grateful we are for your support.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and stay tuned as we prepare to award the first scholarship recipient.

Thank you to everyone who supported the The Sharon Jarett Thacker Scholarship campaign. We have officially met and exceeded our goal of $25,000, which will endow the scholarship! 

We will now be able to honor Sharon's legacy by awarding this scholarship in perpetuity to budding creative nonprofit leaders. Any donations over our goal will allow us to start awarding the scholarship in the near future, ahead of the endowment funding availability. Additional donations now and in the future will also allow us to award larger or multiple scholarships.

Below is a special message from Sharon's daughter, Lindsey, who was pivotal in helping the team reach our campaign goal. 

My mom spent her life trying to build a better world. She could see the good in everyone, no matter their past. She could see the silver lining in every situation, no matter how dire. She could see the potential in you that you might not see in yourself, and she’d do her damnedest to pull it out!

She taught me gratitude, and the importance of perspective, and empathy, and listening. She spent her career working to lift up her community. To lift up the people around her. And the people those people would meet, as they went about their lives. A beautiful  ripple.

Though she’s gone, she’s living on in the hearts of the people she touched.

We are excited to announce that with 21 days remaining in the campaign, we have already exceeded our initial goal of $20,000 and have issued a stretch goal of $25,000. Reaching this new goal will endow the Scholarship, ensuring that we can award it to aspiring nonprofit leaders at UNC Charlotte in perpetuity.  We are grateful for your support and look forward to honoring Sharon's legacy and supporting emerging nonprofit leaders for years to come.

We are excited to receive a gift from the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities honoring Sharon’s time and commitment to ensuring nonprofit leaders had the information and networks necessary to fulfill their missions.  

Sharon believed that when passionate professionals came together, creativity and innovation would spark and lead to magical solutions to address the complicated problems impacting our communities.

We are grateful to the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities for helping us move closer to our goal.
