An endowment: The gift that keeps on giving
Please help us help MPA students realize their potential! UNC Charlotte's Gerald G. Fox Master of Public Administration program is holding a month-long campaign to endow its longest-awarded scholarship. The Burkhalter-Rassel Scholarship was established to honor of the memory of David Burkhalter, who served as the City Manager of Charlotte from 1971 to 1981, and Faculty Emeritus and former MPA Director Gary Rassel, who taught in the MPA program from 1982-2012. This scholarship is awarded to an incoming or first-year student each fall semester.
The crowdfunding campaign goal is $8,000 and will be active until April 14. Endowing this scholarship means we can award it in perpetuity and always have scholarship assistance available for MPA students. Please give today; any amount you can contribute will help us reach our goal.
THANK YOU FOR INVESTING IN UNC CHARLOTTE AND OUR COMMUNITY!
If it weren’t for Bonnie Cone and her supporters convincing the NC Legislature that Charlotte needed a permanent college, UNC Charlotte (then Charlotte College) would have died in 1949. In the spirit of tradition, be a part of the Niner Nation with a $49 donation to the Burkhalter-Rassel Scholarship!
Just as David Burkhalter actively supported the MPA program as an adjunct faculty member and as Charlotte City Manager from ’71-’81, your gift will reward an MPA student who demonstrates the potential to make a significant contribution to local government.
The fastest growing institution in the UNC system, UNC Charlotte currently offers 78 bachelor's, 61 master's, and 22 doctoral programs, totaling 161 unique degree opportunities for its students. Your donation of $161 to the Burkhalter-Rassel scholarship will provide financial assistance to an MPA program student pursuing his/her degree at UNC Charlotte.
Your gift provides financial assistance to our future community leaders of the Gerald G. Fox MPA program. This program is one of 284 member institutions of the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA).
